3 Reasons Why You Need a Foot Rub RIGHT NOW

Let’s talk about feet!

You may not realize it, but your feet are probably your hardest-working and most under-appreciated appendages on your body. Most Americans clock in an incredible 75,000 miles on their feet by the time they reach age 50. Your feet literally support your entire body, jetting you to and fro from all the busy-ness of daily life. It may sound silly, but just try to imagine what your life would be like if you didn’t have feet. You wouldn’t be able to do much of anything, really! It’s safe to say that your feet need some love, and they need it often.

Simply put, you deserve to put your feet up and give your tootsies some TLC for these three reasons:

#1. You Receive All the Benefits of Massage Therapy

You have an amazing 7,000 nerves in your feet. They’re a highly-sensitive part of your body that see a lot of action and carry a lot of tension, even if you don’t notice it. Improved circulation, reduced swelling and inflammation and alleviated muscle pain are all just as important to feet as they are to any other muscle group!

#2. Your Feet Are Pathways To Other Parts of Your Body

The practice of Reflexology applies pressure to certain parts of your foot that can alleviate stress and affect the health of other major organs and glands throughout your body.

So, when you think you’re just rubbing your toes, you’re also alleviating tension in your head. Because of this, I highly recommend reflexology. It is very beneficial to your overall health, especially as a means of preventative medicine.

#3. It Improves Your Overall Outlook on Life

Again, there’s a reason why a good foot rub after a long day on your feet (in high heels, no less!) feels just so, aaahhhh. I seriously can’t think of anything more relaxing! This reduction in stress is so crucial for increasing your positivity and making you feel better about, well, everything.

I could talk all day about how massage therapy is amazing for your overall health, and the same (and even more so) applies to your feet. They are your foundation and you need to take good care of them. And I get it, having someone touch your feet probably makes you a little uncomfortable. Or maybe your feet are ticklish (I know mine are!). But a foot massage is easy to do yourself, so try it out a couple of times yourself before coming to see the professional!

Let’s be real–you work hard and totally deserve to take a load off those tired puppies. Check out these other tips for healthy feet from the American Heart Assocation.
