A Combo Session Like No Other Are you always looking for new opportunities for relaxation…
4 Reasons Why You & Your Partner Need Couples Massage Training
We all know that the benefits of massage are many: lower stress and anxiety, better sleep, and quicker healing from injury, just to name a few. What if I told you that you could reap all those benefits…times two? With couples massage training, you and your partner can take advantage of all the glorious perks massage has to offer and so much more. And when I say “couples massage”, I’m not talking “hit up a spa and receive a massage at the same time”. Couples massage training means that you each learn professional massage techniques on each other, for each other.
Just like regular massage, couples massage training has much to offer you and your partner. Read on to learn why you and your partner need couples massage training.
#1. To show you care about each other’s health
Health is a journey. Unless you’re among the lucky few, it’s not something you simply obtain and can expect to have forever. You and your partner are a team – you have to look out for each other. That means that their health is as much of a priority as your own. Eating right, regular exercise, preventing illness, etc., are all necessary steps that couples should take together on the journey to wellness.
Reducing stress, decreasing the risk of heart disease, and lowering blood pressure using massage can be essential components of a healthy protocol. Learning to give each other massage allows you to be more intimately in tune with each other’s health and to play an active role in helping your partner achieve a state of relaxation and feeling of greater well-being. Plus, you’ll both get better sleep…what’s not to love about that?
#2. To show affection
Touch is a basic human need. It’s something we crave, even if we don’t realize it. Touch has the ability to convey various messages: “I acknowledge you.” “I care about you.” “I desire you.” Let’s face it: we could all use a little more touch in our lives, especially from our partners. If a hug, holding hands, and even a gentle brush on the shoulder can all satisfy that need, then imagine what giving each other massages will do!
By using the soothing, loving touch of massage, couples can be empowered to express affection without saying a word, all while meeting the unsaid desire for touch we all deserve. Besides, after your partner has experienced a stressful day at work, I can’t think of a more selfless and loving way to say, “I care and I’m here for you,” than with a massage!
#3. To improve communication & trust
Now, some people are uncomfortable with giving or receiving touch. For one reason, it requires vulnerability some people simply may not be comfortable with showing. But relationships thrive on mutually open and trusting partners. Couples massage training can teach you how to do just that – to learn to be open to your partner’s touch, to communicate your wants and needs, and then to return the favor. You’ll learn what you do and do not like, as well as what your partner likes and dislikes.
#4. To get massages more frequently
Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of couples massage training is that you can have your own personal massage session any time you want! Whether it’s a quick 5-minute session to address a stiff neck or a foot massage after a long day chasing the kids around, being able to give and receive a professional massage in your own home is worth it in and of itself!

I don’t think that many people would immediately think about it, but the article raises a good point about how couples massages can improve communication. After all, touch can be a very powerful thing and an excellent way to communicate with your spouse or significant other. Learning how to give each other a massage is a great way to show that you care for one another.
Thank you for your comment, Kyle. I agree that learning couples massage will enhance the time you spend with your significant other. A healthy physical connection requires a mental connection and vice versa…good luck!
I think it makes a lot of sense that touch is an important part of human interaction and that it fulfills a part of the need of being loved and wanted. Learning how to massage as a couple would be a great way to increase that bond between two people. At the very least going in for a couples massage would be a start because you could bond while relaxing and enjoying one another’s company.
Thank you, Kylie. I agree that getting couples massage is a great bonding experience. I offer that in-home service with a colleague and couples love it because they can treat themselves in their own home. Whether it is a couples massage experience or investing in the couples massage class, both show a loving interest in your partner’s well-being and happiness.
It was really interesting when you stated that getting a massage at the same time as your partner could show you care about each other’s health. My wife and I have been absolutely swamped with work and other stressful activities lately, so I want to help her unwind as much as possible. I’ll look around for any couples massage spas that can help us out with this right away.
