Adventures in Memphis: Face Lift Massage Class!

Hello, friends!

I am still getting back into the groove of being back home ever since I returned from Memphis, TN, after attending my first-ever Face Lift Massage class last week! I was so excited to learn this new technique in such an interesting city along with my good friend Phyllis, who also happens to be a massage therapist. Boy, did things take a turn for the unexpected!

Memphis Winter Wonderland

Only a couple of days into my trip, Memphis was severely hit by a snow storm,at least by Memphis standards, anyway. Memphis doesn?t see a lot of snow or ice during the winter, so they were not prepared for what hit. For example, the house we rented for the week didn’t even have a snow shovel, so we had to use a dust pan to dig ourselves out!

On top of it all, the city simply shut down. Undeterred by the bad weather, Phyllis and I went out to Beale Street that night and found only one restaurant open. There was barely anyone in there, so we enjoyed a delicious meal with basically the entire restaurant to ourselves. It was seriously like one of those zombie movies, the streets were so quiet and desolate. Apparently the South has a lot to learn from us Kansas Citians when it comes to dealing with inclement weather!

The Face Lift class itself was amazing and I learned so much about tightening those facial muscles in an all-natural, non-surgical way! Our teacher was originally from Russia and he was a blast to learn from. This non-invasive facial rejuvenation massage is taught in eight different sections. Our teacher would demonstrate one part of the technique and then we would practice it, putting the entire massage together at the end. We would look at our faces in a mirror after only one side had been done and you could always see subtle differences. Usually I noticed that the eyebrow was higher and the eye more open on the side of my face that had been worked. Sometimes the entire side was a little higher.

Basically, you massage the face just like you would the rest of the body to relax taut muscles and improve blood and lymph circulation. This class definitely taught me that we need to exercise our faces to keep those facial muscles toned. Just one massage leaves a client with a refreshed face and a healthy glow. There are often other immediate results, which vary. After learning and experiencing this technique for myself, I highly recommend it!

I?m so glad to be back in Kansas City this week and I can’t wait to introduce Face Lift Massage into my practice. I think you all will really enjoy it!
